Cizhou Sgraffito Jarlet

Of globular form with a heavy unglazed footring, wide mouth with a straight high rim. The reddish biscuit body showing through in many places where the cream glaze with green splashes has been carved away or lost. Shoulder design of whorls, and the larger register of the body with continuous band of feathery lotus (?) and coiling stems. Incised bowstring bands.
