Ge Mingxiang was born in Yixing in 1955 into a family of pottery in Yixing Ding Mountain. Initially a skilled dentist, he conducted a comprehensive study of Zisha clay from 1986, and then switched to the field of pottery. Since 1995, he has devoted all his time and energy to the exploration and research of artistic pottery, and at the same time, he has ventured into the art of calligraphy and painting to appreciate more of the essence of pottery.

葛明祥，1955年出生于宜兴丁山陶业世家，家庭成分为窑户。初为一技术精湛的牙医，1986年起对紫砂泥进行了全面研究，而后转行进入陶艺领域。在紫砂热潮中，首配成功了最精细的朱泥与天青色泥，在台湾岛竖起了一块名牌：祥陶。1995年起，把全部时间和精力投入到了艺术陶的探索研究之中，同时涉足书画艺术的品悟，领略到了更多的陶艺精髓。经过多年的努力，在付出巨大代价之后获得了形、釉、火的综合陶艺成就，被誉为“土的技术、釉的艺术、火的魔术”。
