Hadrosaur eggs are found in nests (clutches) of between 7 to 32 eggs. A typical egg nest contains 10 eggs. The egg shell gets coloured by the sand it was buried in. The egg shell when it fossilizes is usually coated in a thin layer of calcite. Embryos have been found in these eggs helping us to be able to identify these eggs as belonging to a large hadrosaur. Hadrosaurs who laid these eggs grew to be the size of a large African bull elephant. Hadrosaurs were the zebra of the dinosaur age. They traveled in large numbers often in the tens of thousands. They migrated north in the summer and south in winter.
